4 Tastes of Your Life

Taste 1: Own Your Body

As you walk today, notice the way your feet land on the ground and propel you forward. Notice which part of your foot lands first, second, and what part of your toes push you forward. Is your step the perfect size for you? What happens when you rush? What do you discover from such a simple act? Let us know.

Taste 2: Own Your Mind

Think about a white rose, a blue sky, or a large mountain. Imagine it and hold the thought steady for 10 breaths. What do you notice? Write to us and share the lesson you learned. There are infinite lessons in this exercise alone, let alone the many meditation and awareness practices we cover in Own Your Life.

Taste 3: Own Your Relationships

Imagine your are on an boat in the ocean with two other people, the one person you want to be there the most, and the one you wish wouldn’t be there. Who are they? How do you feel towards them? Why did you choose them? What would happen if you looked at them as aspects of yourself - representing qualities you like and don’t like about yourself. If you recognized these qualities in you, just a little bit, how do you think that would change or deepen your relationship with them in real life? We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Taste 4: Own Your Health

Mmmm. On your next meal, contemplate your food before you take your first bite. What happens in your mouth as you wait? After you are halfway done, pause and consider what is happening in your mouth as you wait again. Just for a moment. Continue (if you are still hungry) and look, one more time when you are finished eating, and reflect on what is happening in your mouth. What do you learn about this? Did you enjoy your meal any more? Did you eat less than you might otherwise? Tell us here.
